What is digital marketing?

Digital marketing is a subset of marketing that refers to promoting your brand or products through digital means - typically on the internet.

The allure of digital marketing is its highly measurable nature. Being able to attribute sales and leads directly back to the click, or even dollar, that you paid makes it easy for any business to justify the investment.

How long does it take to start seeing results from digital marketing?

Well, this all depends on what service we are providing! For paid ads, Google search and Facebook, the results are instant. However, you can always expect a teething period as we optimise and tweak the campaigns from the start. We recommend allowing one full month before analysing the results, three months is even better.

For SEO, things work a little bit slower - and that's entirely normal. Don't trust anyone who promises instant results with SEO. Sometimes there are low hanging fruit and we can start getting some great results for you within 2-3 months, but a well optimised website will take longer.

How can digital marketing help to grow your business?

In the simplest sense possible, every dollar you spend on digital marketing can be attributed directly back to the money you make - whether that's the value of a lead or an ecommerce sale.

The investment will directly scale your business by driving the right traffic to your website. Traffic that will convert today, tomorrow or later in the month.

However, this is just the short term benefit of digital marketing. The long-term benefits are much harder to measure which is why we focus on the short term. New customers become long-term customers. Brand awareness and word of mouth drive future growth. And optimisations & improvements to your owned media, such as SEO or your email list, will make you money for years to come.

What services do we offer?

SEM stands for Search Engine Marketing and refers to the PPC ads that appear at the top of a Google search results page. These ads look similar to the organic listings, however, advertisers pay for each click on these ads, they account for 65% of the clicks on the page and they show a small ‘Ad’ badge.

Conversely, SEO stands for Search Engine Optimisation and is the act of improving the way Google sees your website. By improving elements of your website, both on-page and off-page, you can improve your website’s ranking on the unpaid, organic listings of the search engine results page - the listings below the Ads.

Both SEO and SEM are essential parts of any successful digital marketing strategy, working together to grow your web traffic and revenue.

Who owns the accounts / work we do?

We believe you should own the work that you pay for.

Sadly, it's too common for advertising agencies in New Zealand to own your advertising accounts and the work they complete for you. Look out for this in your contract.

We promise that all the work we complete on your behalf is entirely owned by you. From the keyword lists, to the website copy, and the advertising accounts we create and manage. It's all yours forever.

How much does digital marketing cost?

There are two main considerations when working out how much to spend on digital marketing.

Firstly, you have your media spend - this is what you pay for media, and should usually be paid directly to the company that provides the ad space, such as Google or Facebook. This always depends on your industry and the size of your business, but can range from around $600 to $1 million+ per month. A typical SME can expect to pay around $2-10k per month in online media spend.

Secondly, you have agency fees - this is the fee you pay to your agency (that's us!) for their time and expertise spent building and managing your ad campaigns. Our digital marketing services start at $840 for advertisers with smaller budgets and go up depending on the scope of work required.

To avoid getting ripped off when choosing a digital marketing agency to partner with, always demand transparency between media spend and agency fees. Ask to pay the ad companies directly and only pay your agency their fee, or ask for access to the platforms so you can see exactly how they are spending your money. Don't settle for just a monthly report.

How do we measure results?

Every new business we partner with will go through an onboarding process with us. The first step, before we spend any money at all, is ensuring you have accurate website tracking set up.

Typically, this means checking that your Google Analytics works correctly and that you have the right pieces of code placed in the right places of your website (e.g. on your order confirmation or form thank you page)
