Our specialty
Google Shopping
We've been working with Google Shopping since before it even existed in New Zealand. Since then we've had the opportunity to work on New Zealand's biggest shopping feeds for some of the largest retailers in the country. These years of experience have enabled us to learn, and using these learnings, we achieve scalable results for clients who are wanting to achieve more than they are currently.
Ecommerce really is our speciality here at TooGood and Google Shopping is the real 'not-so-secret' key to unlocking success in ecommerce. 9 times out of 10 it's the starting point and the key driver of online revenue for our clients which is why we pride ourselves on our ability to get the most out of it.
So, how do we do this? We start with a typical framework for ecommerce businesses. This is usually Google's Performance Max campaign paired with amazing creative assets and a very robust and high-quality shopping feed.
From here, we test and iterate. Depending on the performance and the targets set by you, we try out new strategies that either aim to scale the success we've already achieved, or enable us to hone in on a more niche audience to improve the ROAS you're getting to a level you consider profitable.
No matter what, we work for you to hit your measurable performance goals and we do whatever it takes to get there.
What we do
Google Shopping services
You should know by now that Google Ads is our real passion. If you asked us what our favourite campaign type was it would be Performance Max (though it's technically a bit of a love-hate relationship).
Our expertise in Google Shopping stems from years of testing and learning with a broad range of NZ businesses. We know the strategies that work and we apply them daily to our accounts.
There's a lot to do to get the most out of this channel and we take over it all for you so you can focus on other parts of your business.

Performance Max
Performance Max (or PMax) is Google's latest iteration of Google Shopping. These are ai-driven Google Ads campaigns that mix-and-match various assets and serve your ads across Google Shopping, Google Search, Google Display Network and YouTube. Our approach is proven to perform well and consistently grow and scale over time.

Standard & feed-only
PMax has become the standard approach for Google Shopping thanks to the results it generates. In some (rare) cases it just can't achieve the ROAS required for ecommerce stores to remain profitable. We've tested a granular strategy that combines PMax, standard & feed-only pMax campaigns that captures less scale but higher ROAS' than PMax.

Feed optimisation
Your feed is the heart of your digital marketing strategy. We know Google Merchant Center inside and out and we have experience with most feed plugins, CMS' (including Shopify) and tools. We'll help you set up your feeds and ensure all the data and attributes are optimised in a way that makes Google (and other platforms) love your products.

Testing & scaling
We've worked out the winning strategies for businesses where Google Shopping isn't quite profitable, as well as for the ones that want to scale beyond what is being achieved with the typical PMax account structure. On top of this, we constantly test and iterate upon what is working - from ad creatives to bid strategies, audiences & settings.
Right time, right place
85% of all clicks in Google Ads are on shopping listings.
49% of shoppers are discovering new brands, stores and products on Google and 85% of all clicks on Google Ads are on shopping listings. Consumers are relying on these listings to discover and purchase products so ensuring your business is visible here when your customers are looking is a pivotal part of any digital strategy.

We're TooGood
Why choose TooGood as your Google Shopping agency?
1. We're, above all, a performance-based digital marketing agency.
Getting you measurable results is our number one priority. We focus on driving revenue at a profitable ROAS and attribute it back directly to your ads.
2. Our founding kaupapa is the idea of doing the right thing for our customers and the world.
This means that we prioritise transparency and honesty over our own egos or success.
3. We never do fixed term contracts. Ever.
We hate fixed term contracts and it's our belief that the only agencies that love them are the ones that need them to keep a client for 12 months.
4. We'll be around when you need us (and probably when you don't as well).
Whether you prefer regular catch-ups and hand-holding, or a partner who can get things done while you're busy packing orders, we'll be keeping the communication open and working with you as much or as little as you want.
The process
How our Google Shopping management works
1. Discovery
The first step is getting to know your business. We send over our onboarding survey, request access to your online accounts and schedule a chat with you to get to know what makes your business successful. Together, we set goals and outcomes that define what success looks like for us.
2. Strategy
If you're running Google Ads, we will conduct a comprehensive audit of your account including all Google Shopping and PMax campaigns. We then build out a tailored strategy that will lead to maximum growth in your goals (that we defined earlier). This usually means planning how we will get you as much revenue as possible within the return on ad spend you require to stay profitable.
3. Optimisation
Once we're live, the work doesn't stop. We constantly put in the time to improve what we're doing. We run endless tests and make tweaks to the existing setup to enable growth and scale.
4. Reporting
We ensure you're never left in the dark. Meetings are scheduled proactively, new ideas and tests are communicated regularly and we're always available to reply to any queries you have.

Frequently asked questions
You no doubt have a million questions about us and Google Shopping. It's impossible for us to answer them all right here, but we'll do our best to cover a few of the most commonly asked questions.
Google Shopping is a comparison shopping service offered by Google. As a consumer, this looks like a carousel of products which appear at the top of the Google Search results when you search for a product or when you visit the Shopping tab.
However, for businesses, this product by Google offers a huge opportunity to capture new and existing customers. Using Google Ads, businesses can pay to have their products show up in the Google Shopping carousel.
Google Merchant Center houses your product feed and is an essential tool if you wish to run Google Shopping. You can also make changes to your feed here before it goes through to Google Ads.
Google Search means you are bidding on keywords and serving text ads to people when they search for these keywords.
Google Shopping means you are bidding on product clicks and you are serving product listing ads to people when they search for keywords that Google consider relevant to your products.
Both Google Search and Google Shopping can be relevant for ecommerce businesses, but most find Google Shopping to be the more lucrative option.
Absolutely. If you are an ecommerce store in NZ, you should almost certainly be running Google Shopping campaigns. Most likely, Performance Max is your best pick but for some businesses a standard shopping structure can be optimal.
If you're not running Google Shopping, chances are you are leaving money on the table and are not ensuring your products are showing up for potential customers when they're looking for what you're offering.
Google Shopping is powered by a product feed. This comes in various fomats (XML, Google Sheets and API being the most common) and is essentially a list of all your products and the corresponding product data.
The most important attributes to include are your Title, URL, Price and Availability, however, including as much high quality product data as possible will help you to achieve better results.
This feed needs to be generated and sent to Google. In most cases this can be achieved with a handy plugin (such as on Shopify), otherwise in some cases you may require developer support.
It depends on your business! We highly recommend ensuring you're profitable (it sounds obvious but some agencies seem to miss this point) unless you are a start-up with good funding.
If you have never run Google Shopping before we can help to recommend a starting budget, but ultimately, once you've found the return on ad spend (ROAS) which makes you profitable we recommend keeping the budget open.
For example, if your average profit margin is 50% and you want a ROAS of 4 why not spend as much as you can? If you spend $1 million dollars you'll walk away with $1 million in profit at the end.
Performance Max is Google's favourite black-box campaign type! By using it, you get to use Google's AI to serve your ads to the right people at the right time.
The main difference between PMax and Google Shopping is the placements where you are eligible to show. For Google Shopping campaigns you will only appear in the Google Shopping carousel and tab, whilst PMax will serve your ads across all of Google's websites and platforms, including YouTube, Google Search, Google Shopping and the Google Display Network.
This comes with some pretty significant advantages and can be extremely powerful for scaling up ecommerce stores. The main catch is that Performance Max has limited reporting and control capabilities. This is less of an issue these days, but we are still limited in what we can do.
Unfortunately, Google rarely corresponds directly with businesses. In the first instance, you can try using their Live Chat feature, however, we've found that you often get connected with someone less-than-capable.
For this reason we generally recommend not talking to Google at all unless you really must.
If you need help with something related to managing your Google Ads account, your best bet is to talk to a Google Ads agency such as us.
